About Us

Our 4 Waterberg Cottages and 10 Africamps Waterberg glamping tents are situated on a 2,500ha private game reserve teeming with nearly all the species of African game. For birdlovers, we have beautiful wetland areas that provide a haven to a wide variety of birds.

The Cottages

Originally the home of the extended Baber family, the cottages share a large garden fenced off from game around the perimeter.

Within the extensive, park-like gardens, there is a solar-heated, 15m communal swimming pool, a jungle gym and trampoline for children, a volley ball court and a reception/shop that sells some essentials such as ice, firewood and colddrinks.

With braai areas, fireplaces and lovely views, you will find what you are looking for in a bush break.

Waterberg Cottages is a family-orientated establishment where children and animals are welcome.

The cottages, each unique in size, character and outlook, can be rented individually. Butterfly is a cosy and romantic cottage for two or a family of four. Bushwillow is set apart, looking out onto the veld and has room for seven. Windsong, the original farmhouse can accomodate up to eleven, and four more can stay in Kingfisher Cottage nearby. For more information on each cottage, please explore the drop-down menu

Alternatively, the four cottages taken together lend themselves to family reunions, or ”get togethers” of a group of friends. Each nuclear family can enjoy the privacy of their own cottage, and yet larger group or extended family can come together for meals when they choose to do so. Windsong has outdoor seating for 24, the Butterfly garden has seating for 12 and the Bushwillow stoep has seating for 12. The gardens are a paradise for children, especially when there are cousins and friends to play with. The cottages combined have beds for 26.

The cottages are pet friendly as the entire garden is securely fenced off and some of the cottages have an additional area fenced off for pets. Our own dogs are also very friendly and frequently adopted by the children of guests during their stay.

The Africamps Tents

The Africamps site is a 5 minute walk away but guests share access to all the communal areas at Waterberg Cottages. The tents are laid out along Sunset Ridge affording many of the tents panoramic views across the open expanse of the Waterberg bushveld.

As each deck is equipped with a braai stand and a wood-fired hot tub, the sunset can be enjoyed in style with a chilled glass of your favourite beverage in hand.

There are packages for Africamps guests who would like a larger space in which to gather together for meals and events. For this, we require that either Windsong Cottage or Butterfly Cottage be booked out for the entire weekend by prior arrangment. We can provide the basic cutlery, crockery and fridge space for up to 24 guests.

Activities

For activities, the more active can book a horse ride, or set out on one of the marked walking trails. The regular game drives enable guests to access the full variety and beauty of the farm and the many species of animals and birds that abound. Juliet’s ”Step-into-the-Past” history tour and Dora’s rural village tour are also on offer by prior arrangement. For the children, there are donkey-cart rides & pony rides.

When night falls, Doctor Philip Calcott’s renowned astronomy show – presented at a special discounted rate to our guests – is a particular feature.

With so many activities on offer, there is plenty to do to keep the whole family entertained in between relaxing.

Unfortunately the tents are not pet friendly as they are not as securely fenced off and we encourage game to graze in the area in front of the tents.

All of the cottages and tents have access to WiFi, pure borehole water and electricity generated by the sun.
